The Rent A Room Scheme

Under the Government’s Rent a Room Scheme, you can earn up to £7,500 per year tax free from letting out furnished accommodation in your home. If you use the Rent a Room Scheme but earn above the tax-free threshold of £7,500, you must let the tax office know.
